Approved Stallions

The Approved Stallions Register included those stallions previously known as Hunter Sires and was for stallions that did not have three full generations of proven pedigree and/or couldn’t meet the performance requirements for a Graded Stallion. The Hunter Sires were assessed under the NLHBS scheme and were accepted on inspection coupled with their own performance and that of their progeny.

 The other stallions were assessed in exactly the same way as the Graded Stallions appropriate to their age. They have all passed a stringent Veterinary examination and their owners are obliged to declare that they agree to abide by the Levy Board Codes of Practice for the prevention of venereal diseases.

 THE SOCIETY WILL CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN THE EXISTING REGISTER OF APPROVED STALLIONS BUT NO NEW STALLIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNDER THIS SCHEME.

 Progeny: The Progeny of the Approved Stallions are eligible for registration in the SHB(GB) Stud Book or on the Basic Identity Register.

 Service Fees: are at the discretion of the Stallion owner.

 Service Vouchers: Service Vouchers cannot be used for payment of service fees for mares visiting Approved Stallions.
