It's that time of year...... to get your measuring done.
See below for press release from JMB especially with regard to random 'dope' testing.
JMB Measurement Information for 2018
The JMB’s on-line application for measurement and card payment system, where owners apply and pay on-line prior to contacting an Official Measurer, proved highly successful in 2017. It has been popular with owners, their agents and the Official Measurers and will be continue in 2018.
We recommend that anybody wanting information about measuring refers to the JMB website, www.thejmbonline.co.uk <https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thejmbonline.co.uk%2F&h=ATOqJYSNvXvj3q7paHfpDy32y74qNS5waLy5QVvWMYlCmmwJbXQeyrK31sUgiPuJ0GFhKR6zwzHyyrtaOZMMyaQTYNnilBiTr5iPUQA1RplxK5ysQREkhaBvvqf-ZvmJz57S5j_Sz3ZxoHT4ZFMaidmePkZhPb7riT3TBYiQ-xEb2Joh_yhULwKe1gbn7YSfyelUOTR_GPJUphcDWXYP5FeNEipra_zf7lybkJkP2nxAZ5d9aYbZQo89l9hRGHDWUIZSRx5m-gSnwuy4vTzuYZSQ9-oavTtpNf9e5pEovZLsFzKnnvFfKJht6IMVUXc> , e-mails admin@thejmbonline.co.uk or telephones 01293 862101.
The JMB website contains the Rules, details about the Measurement Procedure, FAQ’s and other comprehensive information.
Owners and their Agents are advised to visit Appendix 2 where they will find a helpful, practical guide to ‘Preparing the Horse or Pony for Measurement’.
It is in Owners best interests that horses and ponies have comfortably gained experience of the Measurement process and of travel to different premises prior to the ‘big day’ of Measurement.
This simple, practical preparation should ensure that the lowest relaxed height can be obtained.
Owners and their Agents need to be aware that the JMB Board unanimously agreed that from 1st January 2018, RANDOM body-fluid samples (usually blood) will be taken at the time of Measurement for routine Annual and Full Measurements (as already happens at Re-measurements and Gold measurements). Details about Prohibited Substances can be found in Appendix 3 of the rules).
Animals presented for Annual or Full Certificates that are to be tested will be selected randomly using anonymised data by the JMB office. The Official Measurer will act according to instructions issued to him or her by the JMB office.
Official Measurers will continue to be able to take samples from any animal presented for measurement if they consider it may have been given a prohibited substance.
This new procedure should go a long way to ensure that animals presented for measurement are free from Prohibited Substances and are in a healthy condition, mirroring the Rules of their relevant Competition, be it Pony Racing, Show-Jumping or Showing,.
