Mare Grading - October 2009
WINNERS
WITCHES BROOM
Witches Broom (Bea) comes from a winning family, she is by Fraam, out of
Carte Blanche (Cadeaux Genereux). Her good shoulder combined with her quick
hindleg mean that she has a fantastic length of stride complete with cadence and
elasticity. Having already produced a lovely filly by One More Tiger (who will
be aimed at Burghley young event horse classes) she is now back in foal to the
Dressage stallion Valeur R. Zoe Taylor
FLIP THE LID
Flip
The Lid raced for several seasons as a point to pointer. Trained in the
Cleveland area, she won 6 races and was placed many times. In 1997 she was
awarded the PPOA award for the leading Yorkshire mare. Flip retired sound at 13
. I acquired her in 2004 after hearing by chance that she might be for sale. I
have shown her occasionally in hunter broodmare classes and she has won at
county level. Flip has had 3 foals so far, a colt and a filly by Minster Son and
a filly by Midnight Legend. The colt, named Fli Mi Son, is a winning point to
pointer and looks to have a promising future. The two fillies are still at home
with me and Flip is currently in foal to the pony stallion, Willowbrook Regal
Bronze. Gill Sheret.
RUNNON COPACABANA
Coco is a 15hh home bred mare, she's 6th generation my family has bred, by
Brianston Spirit (TB) whom we also owned, out of Mardi Gras (TBxPony).
Coco was shown as a 1,2, and 3yo in small hunter classes, winning at many county
shows. Then her ridden career started as a 4yo, winning at county level as a Int
SRT, SHP and Riding Horse.
In 2002 she had her first foal, Coco's 3yo Runnon Rio Grande by Catherston
Dazzler is her most prolific winning offspring with numerous championships at
County level.
Last year at the age of 15 Coco returned to the show ring as a Broodmare and has
since won at The Royal, Ponies UK, Scottish and Overall Champion Hunter Pony at
NPS Champs to name a few.
Coco has been a fantastic little mare and is still giving us great pleasure
sparkling in the show ring. Emma Edwards-Brady
PRIMATIVE EXPRESSION
Bought as unbroken 3 year old from Doncaster Sale. I competed her in Burghley
Young
Event
horse classes and was always in the top 10 but never made the final as she was
never "flash" enough. I started eventing her with the aim of gaining 1 BE point.
She won several PN events and swiftly moved up to Novice winning several with
numerous high placings also winning the Scottish Points Trophy. She quickly
upgraded to Intermediate where she was rarely out of the ribbons. She is now
advanced and completed three star level. She is my special mare who has taken an
amateur to top level eventing. She is due her first foal in April to Rubin Star
N. She is my horse of my lifetime, a special friend and I feel privileged to own
her. Sandra Hall
PARADISE ROAD
Paradise Road, by Habb's Lad, was bought by myself as a three year old with the
intention of an eventing career. "Polly" soon showed her affinity and talents as
a
dressage
horse though. During her career she qualified for every summer and winter
Regional Championship for nine years from Preliminary level through to Prix St
George level.
She had several Premier League placings at Advanced level and was placed in the
Pet Plan Equine Area festival Final at Prix St George level. She amassed 283
points and and won at every level up to and including FEI Intermediaire 1.
Paradise Road has had one filly foal by the young Danish bred SHBGB graded
stallion Cendy. She is also in foal to him again for 2010. Mr
H Payne
FAERIE SONG TOO (FAERIE DAZZLER)
Faerie Dazzler, home bred by myself out of Clayton Mudlark (Ben Faerie) by
Catherston Dazzler, was that rare thing in the eventing world, a mare who went
through the grades up to 4 star level. Produced by Darrel Scaife up to CCI 2
star level the ride was then
taken
over by Australian International David Green who was longlisted for the World
Championships in Jerez with her after successful outings to Saumur and Boekelo
CCI ***'s in 2001. When injury ended her career early in 2002 she retired to
stud with me at Brockenhurst Park. Her first foal, Jack Green (by Kuwait Beach)
has been incredibly successful with Andrew Nicholson being graded advanced at 6
years old having amassed 68 BE points. Her current rising superstar offspring is
the immensly talented 4 year old Faerie Dianimo (Keystone Dimmagio)who finished
4th at the Lycetts Burghley Young Event Horse class and backed that up with 2nd
place at the British Eventing 4 year old Championships in early October. Faerie
Dazzler has been graded with elite status and is proving to be a hugely valuable
brood. Mrs T Rickards
BONNY BANK JAY JAY
Bonny Bank Jay Jay (IDxTB) by Squire out of a TB mare, Has been produced by her
owner/rider from a 4year old, she started her career in Dressage successfully
winning up
to advanced level and gaining 177points. She has been to a number of regional
and national competitions and became the Spillers novice combined training
champions in 2005. In 2004 she started eventing, going from novice to advanced
in 2006, she has been placed 2nd in three 2** CIC's and competed at the National
Championships at Gatcombe Park and gaining 118points. In 2007 she was selected
to represented Great Britain in the European 2** championships at Ovedskloster
in Sweden where they led the team into 4th place. She is currently in foal to
Grafenstolz, she has a very workman like attitude to work and I hope that this
gets passed on to her offspring. Gary Foggon
JOYCE
Lotto was purchased in 1995 as a 9yr old and had never competed jumping, but had
spent her life being ridden along a beach in Belgium by an elderly lady. From
the moment we saw her we fell in love with her and our daughter
Natalie
formed a special bond with her which was to last for many years. They learnt and
grew together and achieved incredible results.
Natalie and Lotto trained with David Bowen in the UK and with Franke
Sloothak in Germany and went on to win Team Gold Medals for Great Britain,
represented GB at the European Championships in Portugal, as
well as being placed in numerous Grand Prix both at home and abroad.
Lotto gave birth to a beautiful colt foal in 2008 by the Olympic Gold Medal
winning sire, For Pleasure and is currently in foal to Tinkas Boy. Lotto, For
Pleasure and the offspring Lotto's Pleasure, all have
the same distinguishable white splash on their sides. Pauline Pym
ARLINGTON PARK
We first saw Arlington Park in the summer of 2004 at Louella Stud and were
immediately drawn to her. Joanne & I were impressed by her big power walk and we
both agreed that if she could move as well as she walked, it was a done deal.
Shown lightly as a yearling, allowing time to mature. Then as a 2 year old had a
very successful season, and as a 3 year old, came into her own, winning numerous
Championships & Supremes, including Supreme Hunter at the Royal Highland Show.
Retained as a Brood Mare in 2007, she returned to the show ring in 2009 with her
first foal at foot and continued her winning form. Shown with consideration as a
novice brood mare, both mare & foal winning at the Royal Highland Show, Supreme
Hunter Champion at the Border Union show & Supreme Hunter at the Northern Horse
Show. William Moran
HATHOR
Hathor was purchased by Tucker Henderson as a Dressage Horse, she sadly
sustained an injury as a youngster, which made her unsuitable as a dressage
horse, so she then became a brood mare.
Having
had foal by Miners Lamp, Tucker very kindly gave her to Landford Common Stud.
Her first foal with us was 'Serious Opposition', who belongs to Coral Keen and
has 75 BE Points.
Her next foal was 'Opposition Detective', who was second in the 4 year old
British Breeding Championships in 2007. Opposition Detective is competing in his
first 1* at Aldon this week. He is owned by Denny Russell and Kirsty Johnston.
The next foal was 'Opposition Filmstar', so named because she stared in the BBC
Discovery programme 'Horse Tails'. Opposition Filmstar qualified for the 4 year
old British Breeding Championships, unfortunatly Kirsty had sustained an injury
and was unable to compete her.
The next foal was 'Opposition Supermacy' a 2 year old Colt who we are hoping
will be the next Stallion Superstar!
Hattie - as she is affectionatly known, is now in foal to Utopian Oppotision.
