AUXILIARY STUD BOOK

Only animals by an SHB(GB) Graded Stallion, currently registered for the year of covering OR out of an SHB(GB) Graded Mare are eligible for registration in the Auxiliary Stud Book. If not by an SHB(GB) Graded Stallion the sire must be registered as a breeding stallion with another official breed society and a covering certificate from that society must be provided. The progeny of SHB(GB) Graded Mares by unregistered stallions will not be eligible for the Auxiliary Stud Book and should be registered on the Basic Identity Record.

Applications for registration must be accompanied by:

a) a SHB(GB) or other official breed society covering certificate together with:
b) a copy of the dam’s passport showing her breeding, if not registered with SHB(GB). A copy of the sire’s breeding obtained from a Breed Society (if not registered with SHB) should also be submitted at the time of registration. Only the breeding shown on the passport/registration documents can be recorded.
c) a hair sample for a DNA profile from the animal to be registered Animals conceived by Artificial Insemination must be parentage verified by DNA as under the Identity Record

REGISTRATION FEES:

Foals registered before 1st December in the year of their birth £35
Animals registered after 1st Dec in the year of their birth £50
DNA FEE £48

Foals must be registered by 31st December in year of birth or by the age of 6 months, whichever is the later.

DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE ON REGISTRATION FEES: A 15% discount on registration fees is available to individual owners when registering 3-4 horses. A 20% discount is available on the registration of 5 plus horses. Discounts are NOT available on the DNA fee.
